How do I know if my child needs speech therapy?
If you think your child may have a speech or language delay, a good place to start is with your pediatrician, day care provider, or teacher. They can be very good at gauging your child’s speech/language skills based on what other children of the same age are doing. All kids develop differently and excel in different areas.
Expected speech/language milestones:
If you’re still concerned about your child’s speech or language, please feel free to call and we can discuss your concerns and determine if an evaluation may be right for your child.
What does an evaluation look like?
The average time the Speech Pathologist will spend assessing your child will be 45 minutes to 1.25 hours. During this time she will conduct a formal evaluation, observe your child informally, and/or review the parent report. Once the testing is completed, a comprehensive report will be written and a treatment plan will be created if appropriate. Next, we will meet and review the results together and schedule a time to begin services if appropriate.
What ages do you serve?
We work with clients who are ages 12 months to young adults.
